A proposal has been made for the full reinstatement of the 1978 Syria Cooperation Agreement.
The proposal comes after the lifting of most Western sanctions on Syria and aims to strengthen relations with Damascus.
The proposal will require formal approval from the European Parliament in order to enter into force.
